THE EDGE OF RUSSIA
A different kind of beauty.

The journey to Gydan led far beyond the familiar — into a remote world within the Arctic Circle.

What began as a professional assignment became several years of life and work in one of the most isolated landscapes in Russia.

Here, ice, tundra and sky stretch beyond the horizon. The conditions are demanding, the distances immense, and nature sets the rhythm of everyday life.

THE ARCTIC
WHEN THE SUN DOESN'T SET
IN THE ARCTIC, EVEN TIME FEELS DIFFERENT
Gydan revealed a side of Russia that is difficult to imagine from afar.

In summer, the ice retreats and low grasses emerge across the tundra. The landscape changes completely, revealing a world shaped by the seasons and the people who have learned to live within them.

It was here that the Nenets came into view — a native community whose life is deeply connected to this remote northern land.
And during the summer solstice, the sun remained visible through the night, creating a landscape where midnight could look like midday
